This week for homework:

Language Arts: Read each evening for 20-30 minutes. Respond to literature using your reading log response sheet. Be sure to read the corrections I made on your logs for this week and use that information to improve where needed. I will collect this on Friday.

Spelling: Continue Using Spelling City. This week include any words that I wrote on your reading logs and then pretest for the rest using the commonly misspelled word list. 10 words total. If you don't have a Spelling City account then I am also looking for the definitions and hints for remembering the spelling. Hopefully you will have enough class time to finish this assignment during class time.

Math: This week let's focus on X-tra Math. Or to change it up a bit you can try the other math practice link above.

Today in Class:

November 18:

Math: We are continuing to reinforce learning about equivalent fractions and applying this knowledge to solving more complex fraction problems.

Language Arts: We read "Natural Order" in the Revealers. We will read the last chapter on Monday and continue with our Bullying PSA script writing. Everyone was eager to see how Ms. Cappelli would respond to the Science Fair Exhibit.

Social Studies: Our hard work researching Mexico is getting put into action. Most students have made place markers in their Google Earth project. We are writing the scripts and rehearsing for our tours.

November 17:
Unfortunately I can't attend the honor roll reception as I will be at a workshop regarding Google Mapping. I am very proud of the work the students have done thus far this year.

Math: Students are working diligently on fractions. Today they finished some exercises comparing fractions, ordering fractions from least to greatest, and partitioning fractions.

Language Arts: We read the chapter "Double Click" and used a website my former students created simulating the chapter. It's lots of fun so if you have a minute try to check it out.

Social Studies: We are beginning to pin points on our Google Earth Maps for our Google Tours! Students should be done research at this point so they can write their narration as a tour guide in Mexico.

Science: We played "Stump the student" as a review of science we have learned. Tuesday we will take a test wrapping up the unit. Students have been really engaged and class discussions have been very enriching.

November 16th:
Math: Today we used fractions to solve problems about popcorn, sandwich wraps and land area.
Language Arts: We read two chapters in the Revealers. We read "Natural Orders" and "Dumpster". Some interesting developments have occurred regarding Russell and Richie's relationship. We had 10 minutes of spelling practice too.
Social Studies: We worked on our Mexico Research.
Science: We worked on vocabulary review. We used quizlet, a crossword puzzle by Julia, and watched a vocabulary review movie produced by the students!!

November 15:

Math: We worked on page 20 in Bits and Pieces. We completed several problems about cutting up licorice lace and then students worked independently on problem E on page 21. They continued independently working on pagse 28-29 problems 1-10. They will have class time tomorrow to finish up and then have time to compare answers before we go over them in class.

Language Arts: We talked about the Burlington Free Press Article about bullying in an Essex School. We also watched a PSA on bullying and discussed that as well. Spelling work time and Prefix/Suffix work time.

Social Studies: Several students presented information they learned about the Mayan people. They are creating a Google presentation slide to share their information for the whole class, this is a collaborative effort.

Science: More brain......
